Here's a cocktail : Guinness World Record holding DJ Matt Solo, Factory Sound, Melbourne Bar Show 2007
A funny thing happened last week. Looking resplendent in its Federation décor, the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton was host to Melbourne Bar Show 2007. Factory Sound had a little space there, to help remind venue owners and operators that we supply fantastic products that suit the often demanding environment of pubs and clubs.
Some of the products we featured were: Waterwave, Pioneer CDJ1000Mk3, Nexo PS8 system, ARX's magnificently easy–to–use BarMix, iColor 4, installation speakers, and a bunch of other handy bits and pieces that keep bars shaking (but not stirred).
So…towards the end of Day 1, who should come crashing past the stand to say hello? None-other than DJ Promo a.k.a Matt Solo a.k.a holder of the Guinness World Record for longest ever DJ (club) session – a staggering 87 hour marathon set he ripped back in June '06.
For the big event at Federation Square, Matt's rig included 2 x Technics SL1200, loaded with Shure Whitelabel, 2 x Denon DNS3500, 1 x A&H Xone:62, Audio Technica ATH–PRO700MS headphones, all pumping through a Nexo PS15 System. Stop and have a think about just how many records and CDs are required to get yourself a World Record. Yep, it's mind-boggling…and anyone who heard his interview on Triple J just before he broke the record will realise that it was an incredibly tough experience for mind, body and soul – all while he kept the party up and moving.
Meanwhile, back at the Bar Show: "I'll come and do a set tomorrow for you" offered Matt. Being a two-day event, we didn't have a spare 87 hours to watch him do it all again…and in fairness…he didn’t have a spare few months to train for it either! However, Matt made good on his promise to cram 24 hours into a 4 hour set, and we had a great time on Day 2. Big thanks to DJ Promo…make sure you check him out while you can!
If you had the chance to wander around the show, you may have noticed that FBT speakers were an effective spruikers choice for a couple of the beverage distributors that were offering cocktail mixing advice and samples. Needless to say, these were very popular places to loiter. We spotted J–5BA and MaxX2A doing the hard work, while many of the visitors and stand operators were re– acquainting themselves with as many varieties of vodka as possible.
If you didn't make it down to the show, come into Factory Sound and we'll show you what's working nicely in bars around town. You'll need to BYO DJ though…Matt's earned himself a rest!
