More connectors, more easily
Ever since the 'Unified D-Series' gained vast acceptance in the audio/visual industry, life has been a whole lot easier for the ones drilling holes in metal. The biggest advantage (or most noticeable difference) came when XLR fittings for both male & female all–of–a–sudden had the same sized cutout, with mounting holes in identical places — the arrival of D-series. Since that has happened, most other connector types have also been manufactured to fit the 'D-series' cutout.
Other 'D' factors of varying notoriety include D–Day and D–minor, which is the saddest of all keys (Nigel Tufnel, 1984). Bonus points if you still remember the name of his piece without looking it up. Maybe it's all just a storm in a D–Cup after all..
